Colfax

Grant Parish is named for President Ulysses S. Grant and Colfax is named after President Grant's first Vice President, Schuyler M. Colfax. The town is also the site of the notorious Colfax Riot / Massacre during the Reconstruction era.

Colfax is the parish seat of Grant Parish and home to the Louisiana Pecan Festival. Over 70,000 people flood the streets of Colfax every year to participate in all the festivals.
